Job 19:25-27 New King James Version

25 For I know that my Redeemer lives,

And He shall stand at last on the earth;

26 And after my skin is destroyed, this I know,

That in my flesh I shall see God,

27 Whom I shall see for myself,

And my eyes shall behold, and not another.

How my heart yearns within me!

Ever feel like God is blessing everyone but you? Like things seem to be working out for everyone else and you are stuck? These thoughts have brushed up against the minds of many some capture them and refuse to believe it, and some consider it and based your own personal history you find grounds to cultivate it. What you cultivate in your mind and gets rooted in your soul. You think " I know God, but He never answers my prayers, I feel like He does not hear me." I had someone tell me that disappointment was such a large part of her life she expected it. I thought to myself - well that does not leave a lot of room for God now does it? Years of disappointment and shame leads to inner vows - we all make them.

" I will never trust men again"

" I am just not going to let anyone get that close to me again."

" I am not going to get my hopes up anymore, that way I won't be disappointed when things do not work out."

These inner vows build up protective walls that wall out everyone, including God and all of who He is. The woman who told me that all she knew was disappointment left no space for hope. We must have hope it is a main ingredient in faith. Is God mad at us when we face him and all we have is our self-made protective walls? I do not believe that, we can only give people what we have, redemption permits us to make a exchange. Since Christ died for our sin and shame, we do not have to carry the effects of it as well.

Isaiah 49:23b “Then you will know that I am the Lord; those who hope in me will not be disappointed.”

That is the word of our Lord it is a promise of God through Jesus Christ, and where there is not room for His word in us, He will make room. You will have to face the source of your disappointment now that we have determined that it cannot be God. This must be done in the presence of God and with a counselor, Spiritual Leadership or trusted prayer partners. God wants us to let go of our past and hope again. Hope in Him sets the stage for Him to show up in a personal way for us.

Job says it best, let us look at this passage for a moment.

25 For I know that my Redeemer lives,

We can know something about God and not have truly experienced for ourselves yet, it is head knowledge vs heart knowledge. Job knew God could and would rescue him out of his trouble.

And He shall stand at last on the earth;

The is attests to God’s greatness despite what he had to endure God was God and bigger than Job’s biggest problem. He was there in the beginning and He will be there at the end.

26 And after my skin is destroyed, this I know,

That in my flesh I shall see God,

Job was aware of humanity and how small he was in comparison to God and he declares his hope in God. He knew that God would not leave him in that state, he was confident that help was on the way. That is what hope looked like for him. "Things could not be any worse God, but I can’t let go of my hope in you." Hope was all Job had, thank God he lets things get that place so He can prove himself to they that need to know that He LIVES!

27 Whom I shall see for myself,

And my eyes shall behold, and not another.

How my heart yearns within me!

Here he declares that this experience would be very personal and especially for him, we cannot only experience God through others. We rejoice and we are happy for others when God blesses them, but we too are loved and favored by God and He wants to bless us also.

God will clear out all our disappointment and failures of the past we must renounce any inner vows made and allow Him to dig deep. We need a well that springs forth with hope in our Lord and expects Him to perform His word and keep His promises. Maybe someone in your past broke one too many promises, or everything you put your hand to seems to fail. Allow the Lord to exchange that for hope, His hope that trusts in the God of things not seen. Whatever you are in He will NOT leave you there and if you need to see God for yourself move mightily in YOUR life begin to ask Him to reveal the root to you. I strongly suggest that you have spiritual back up for yourself so anything that triggers can be prayed for.

Let your heart year for the Lord, your yearnings call to Him and moves Him to present Himself in your situation.
